I am honored to become chair of Senate’s Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production. Standing Committees also called \"mini legislatures\" are the backbone of the parliament. In Standing Committees the business of House, including laws and policy matters, are discussed thoroughly. Effective Standing Committees help in dealing with the multifaceted and demanding nature of parliamentary business.

I strongly believe in exploring ways for closer ties with the people in order to raise their awareness about the work of the parliament.

The Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production, which has experienced and distinguished Members with long parliamentary careers, performs the vital task of oversight of Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Defence Production.
